A.H. Furnico, Inc. Limited Warranty
Wood doors, sidelights and transoms manufactured by A.H. Furnico, Inc are warranted for two (2) years from
date of shipment to be of good material and workmanship at the time of shipment and free of defects that
would render them unfit for ordinary recommended purposes. A.H. Furnico, Inc. warrants this product only to
the first purchaser of this product for purposes other than resale, or to the original purchaser of the residence
into which such door is installed. Except as otherwise expressly provided herein, A.H. Furnico, Inc. shall not
pay for the cost of labor, installation or finishing of the replacement or original door or for any other cost
relating to the replacement of the door, all of which shall be the sole responsibility of the person making the
warranty claim.

Should a warranted wood door be found by A.H. Furnico, Inc to be defective, A.H. Furnico, Inc will at its sole
option either:

1.        Repair the door without charge, or

2.        Provide a replacement part or parts for repair of the door without charge, or

3.        Provide a replacement door in the same point of fitting and/or finishing it was originally supplied, or

4.        Refund the price received for the door.

This limited warranty does NOT apply to any of the following:
  • Doors more than 8’ tall or 3’6” wide
  • Lited doors or one-panel wood doors over 6’8” tall or 3’ wide
  • Doors that have warp which does NOT exceed ¼” in the plane of the door
  • Doors less than 1-3/4” thick for exterior use
  • Doors which have not been properly sealed on all six sides within 14 days of delivery, including the
top and bottom edges of the door
  • Damage caused by failure to comply with the Finishing and Care Instructions (see below)
  • Damage due to improper or incorrect installation
  • Exterior doors used in a commercial application
  • Damage caused by others or by any cause beyond the control of A.H. Furnico, including but not
limited to damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, mishandling or by fire, flood, earthquake, storm,
tornado or other acts of nature
  • Misuse of a door, including but not limited to, using a door on part of a building without providing
adequate overhang or appropriate finish color. Adequate overhand depends on the typical weather
conditions of the site where the building is located, but typically means an overhang projecting a
distance away for the door at least equal to one-half he elevation difference between the bottom of the
door and the base of the overhang structure. In order to reduce the chance of warping or checking,
dark-colored finishes should be avoided on all exterior surfaces, especially if the door is exposed to
    direct sunlight.
  • Discoloration or rusting of decorative metal accents (clavos, grilles, strap hinges, etc)
  • Damage due to trimming the door more than ½” from the top or 1-1/2: from the bottom of the slab

contract in a  response to environmental conditions
  • Expansion or contraction due to varying environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity
  • Gates, or doors used in a gate application
  • The appearance of any field finished door.

HANDLING, FINISHING AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Entrance doors shall always be stored on edge, supported vertically (not leaning). Interior doors must
be stored flat in a clean, dry environment.
  2. Doors shall not be exposed to excessive heat, dryness, humidity, or direct sunlight prior to finishing.
  3. Handle door with clean gloves and do not drag doors across each other or other surfaces.
  4.  Deliver doors to the job site after plaster is dry. If doors are stored on the job site for more than one
week, all edges must be sealed.
  5. All hardware locations, preparations, and methods of installation must be appropriate for specific door.
  6. All doors 7’ and under mush have 3 hinges.
  7. Prior to finishing, remove all handling marks with 150 grit or finer sandpaper and remove all sanding
    dust.
  8. Apply sealer, primer or first coat of required finish immediately after fitting, cutting for hardware,
weather stripping, and before the installation or hardware or hanging the door.
  9. All exposed surfaces of the door must be sealed, including the top, bottom, side edges, and the
    hardware cutouts.
  10. Use only oil-based stains, sealers, or primers on the door. If water-based paint is to be used, it must be
applied over an oil-based primer. (Note of Caution: An interior grade lacquer is NOT a satisfactory
    product for exterior use.)
  11. All exterior surfaces, including the top, bottom, and sides of the door must be finish coated with a good
quality exterior grade paint or varnish. At least three (3) coats of exterior grade varnish with a UV
    Inhibitor must be applied.
  12. In order not to induce warpage or excessive deterioration of your door, avoid using dark stains or
paints on the door surfaces exposed to direct sunlight.
  13. Most finishes on exterior doors deteriorate relatively quickly. To insure exterior doors receive the
protection required, inspect the condition of exterior finish at least once a year and refinish as often as
needed to maintain the protective stability of the finish.

You must inspect each door immediately upon receipt.  If a defect is discovered, a written notice must be given
within 30 days and before the door is hung or altered in any manner.

Final warranty inspection will be made at the warehouse upon receipt of the defective door.

I
mportant Information About Warranty

Do NOT cut, trim or finish a door, side lite or transom sash, before it has been fully inspected. Once the
product has been cut and/or finished, it can not be returned to AH Furnico for replacement unless it is
defective in a way that is covered by the warranty. Please comply with all of the handling and finishing
instructions completely to validate the warranty. The product must be hand sanded before finishing.

A.H. Furnico, Inc will not be held liable for any door repaired or replaced without our prior written consent. We
will not pay any cost to remove defective doors or to install new doors, nor are we responsible for any finishing
cost or consequential damages.

The following are not to be considered defects in wood material or workmanship and are not covered by this
limited warranty:

  1. Wood doors are susceptible to expansion and contraction caused by temperature and humidity
variations. Small surface checking or slight shrinking or cupping, which may cause tiny cracks at the
joints, may occur under certain conditions. These deviations from perfection are not considered flaws.
When doors are shipped unsealed and unfinished, the natural characteristics of wood movement
    cannot be warranted against.
  2. Warp shall be considered a defect when it exceeds ¼” in the plane of door. Warp is any distortion in
the door itself and does not refer to the relationship of the door to the frame or jamb in which it is hung.
The term warp shall include bow, cup and twist. In measuring the amount of warp present in a wood
door the following method must be used. Bow, cup and twist are measured by placing a straight edge,
taut wire or string on the suspected concave face of the door at any angle (i.e. Horizontally, vertically
and diagonally). The measurement of bow, cup and twist is made at the point of maximum distance
between the bottom of the straight, taut wire or sting and the face of the door. Action on any claim for
warp may be deferred at A.H. Furnico’s option for a period not to exceed (12) months after installation
to permit the door in question to acclimate to temperature and humidity conditions.
  3. Wood doors wider than 42” or higher than 90” at a 1 3/4 “ thickness are not warranted against bow or
    twist.
  4.  Natural variation in the colors of the wood or in texture and grain of wood or normal panel movement.
  5. Doors which are improperly hung or do not swing freely.
  6. Exterior doors not protected by substantial overhang and exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  7. Single safety glass reinforcement is not considered to be true insulating glass because of the nature of
leaded glass construction certain weather conditions may produce condensation in doors with safety
glass reinforcement. A.H. Furnico, Inc will not warranty doors of this type against condensation between
    the row glass elements.
  8. Any conditions arising from the neglect or failure to properly maintain the door.
  9.  Any implied warranty shall be limited in duration to the period of this warranty, there are not warranties
that extend beyond this warranty, and A.H. Furnico Inc.’s sole responsibility under this warranty is as
stated herein. A.H. Furnico, Inc shall not be held liable for consequential, indirect or incidental damages
or for any amount in excess of A.H. Furnico, Inc price of the item involved.
